By choosing the right offer this trip can be just amazing, do you agree? You can combine the best of Croatia – both sea & land and by spending your time sailing along the Adriatic Coast you can stop anywhere you want on your tour to explore the mainland.

Sailing in Croatia is a particular tour around different islands so it would be ideal if you just pick a route that really gets you thrilled, maybe one you’ve thought about for years. If the places on the route don’t excite you then you won’t really put forth the effort to reach your goal. So, where are you going?

Depending on your plan to visit North, Central or South Croatia in 7 or even better, 14-day itinerary we’re bringing you the top destinations you should not miss on your journey.

Kornati region

Check that all devices are fully charged: the extraordinary light and landscape in this part of Croatia’s coast demands constant snapping and sharing.

Start with city Biograd na Moru, which is nautical and tourist centre situated at the very heart of the Adriatic Coast where our base is also placed in the marina Kornati, the starting point of your sailing holiday. Kornati area is often mentioned as "nautical paradise". And really, in zig-zag sailing through the 89 unforgettable islands, islets and reefs in the Kornati National Park, you will test all of your nautical skills, particularly if you’re lucky enough to have a good weather.

In an uninhabited Kornati islands that are protected nature heritage you will find only a few scattered typical stone houses in some well protected bays. But do not be surprised by to find great restaurant places with exquisite food. They can be a little bit expensive, but you will eat really freshly caught fish and sea food. Also, be aware that isolated places like these are limited by electricity and fresh water supply and paying for services there is possible only by cash.

So isolated and protected area is an ideal option for all those who are looking for peaceful and relaxing time spend far away from city crowds. What is more your mobile phones will have limited signal in some areas so you will not be available at all times. Sounds good?

Do not miss Nature park Telaščica which is placed in the south-eastern part of the island of Dugi Otok. The unique Telašćica Bay is the safest, most beautiful and largest natural port of the Adriatic with 25 small beaches, the cliffs of Dugi Otok or the so-called “stene” rising up to a height of 161 metres above the sea and reaching down to a depth of 90 meters, and the salt lake “Mir” with its medicinal properties. If you decide to go sailing to Kornati region, be sure to climb on the top of the cliffs, swim in the salt lake or snorkel in some of these beautiful bays. Within the Nature Park area there are archaeological sites in case you are searching for some knowledge of cultural heritage on the island. All of the sites are regulated, marked with information boards and have roads or footpaths that lead to them.

South Dalmatia

There are so many sailing routes around this area that it´s possible you don´t know where to start. That´s why we would like to share with you our favourite spots to sail around the islands of South Dalmatia.

Split is the largest city on the Adriatic Coast. The city of entertainment, gastro pleasures and rich night life in many clubs and cafes. Split has many historical sites, most of them are nestled within the walls of the 17 centuries old Diocletian’s Palace. Do not miss places like Peristil or Archaelogical museum and Meštrović Gallery. Enjoy in gastro discoveries such as delicious risotto, homemade pasta, veal cheek pašticada (traditional Dalmatian stew), burgers, steaks and fish, and not to forget the huge choice of local wine by-the-glass to wash it down. The beer selection is really good too.

Every year from mid-July to mid-August the city is hosting the summer festival, where the palace becomes a large stage where the most famous operas and musicals can be seen. Last few years the city Split and nearby island of Hvar are hosts of the famous Ultra music festival, so why not to let the dance vibe lead you as a part of your unforgettable sailing holiday?

The island of Vis has only two villages - Komiža and Vis, both on the coast retaining their centuries of old architecture.  Due the fact that in the past the island was a naval base approach to it was forbidden.  Nowadays, everyone can visit these bases on the island and meet traditions, history, cultural heritage and natural beauties of the island. You should definitely see the Stiniva beach - thanks to its beauty, it is now revealed to the world as the best and the most beautiful beach in Europe. Visit Modra Špilja (Blue Cave), on the island of Biševo that offers you unique experience by creating a magical effect – blue glow produced by the sunshine and the sea reflection.

Hvar, the most visited island of all, offers a vibrant restaurants and café life. Despite its popularity, Hvar has nevertheless maintained its authenticity. Among other attractions, Hvar hosts one of the hippest clubs in the region,' Carpe Diem'. If you sailing in the peak of the season be prepared on crowded marinas and bays. Hvar main harbour lively and, from the water, you can scope out waterfront bars and restaurants. Start near the Harbour Master's building and walk around the lovely waterfront, then up to the Spanish Fortress - known as Fortica Spanjola. It's well worth the climb for the views and a nice place to enjoy a drink. Then you can sail around the unspoiled Pakleni Islands close to Hvar Town which can involve swimming and snorkelling as you sail around secluded coves. We suggest to have a lunch on Sveti Klement. We are sure that wine lovers will be delighted to see the vineyards placed just one meter above the sea level, the source of excellent Sveti Klement reds and whites, the fine Croatian wines.

The most southerly and easterly of the larger Croatian Adriatic islands and also the greenest, island of Mljet is covered in a mass of pine forests. With volcanic origin, the island has a number of chasms and gorges including two inland salt water lakes, the 12th century Benedictine Monastery located in the inlet of Lake Veliko Jezero and a National Park in the north. The legend says that Odysseus spent time on the island on his return from the Trojan War - a total of seven years - entranced by the island and nymph Calypso’s beauty. Walking around the lakes and a boat ride to the Monastery will be a wonderful respite in nature. The water in lakes is warm enough to swim in even in October.

This list is by no means complete. During your sailing holiday in Croatia you can combine this and much more. If you need assistance for planning your perfect sailing route in Croatia we’re here, gladly to help you.
