How could it be otherwise when the Mediterranean climate with hot summers and the beautiful Adriatic Sea, one of the cleanest in the world, offers the perfect combination for a family or youth vacation.

Which part of Croatia is best for sailing?

Known for its beautiful coastline, historical sights and thousands of islands, Croatia is one of the hottest destinations in the world.

Are you looking for ideas for your sailing trip in Croatia on our charter boats?

If you are thinking about a sailing trip in Croatia, you should consider the main regions in your next sailing route planning.

1. The northern Adriatic:

   Includes the Istrian peninsula and the Kvarner islands such as Cres, Krk, Susak and Mali and Veliki Lošinj. Due to its diversity and sailing opportunities, this area has become a popular destination for sailors from Italy, Austria and Germany. The yacht charter bases in this area are easily accessible by car, so their choice of destination is not surprising.

2. Northern and Central Dalmatia;

 The Kornati Islands lie in the northern part of Dalmatia and are the densest archipelago in the Mediterranean, with a length of 35 kilometres and 89 islands, some large and some small, in a sea area of about 320 square kilometres. The eighty-nine southernmost of the approximately 140 islands, islets and reefs of the Kornati archipelago have been declared the Kornati National Park in order to protect the islands and their marine environment. Because of the large number of islands and islets, this is a true little paradise for sailors. Here you can really find peace and enjoy the untouched nature because only a few people live on these islands. In this area, known as a popular destination for family sailors, you will find many islands with a rich tradition and gastronomic offer that will delight all members of your crew. So if you are planning a family vacation, do not miss this destination.

3. Southern Adriatic Area;

 The southern Adriatic or Southern Dalmatia is a region of beautiful islands, pleasant climate, numerous bays and traditional small fishing villages. In this part, islands like Lastovo, Mljet, Korčila and the Elaphite islands are a real refreshment and a unique experience for every sailor. Here you will be enchanted not only by nature but also by the tradition of this region, known for its excellent wines and seafood dishes, especially oysters. You should also not miss visiting the very well preserved medieval city of Dubrovnik, whose spectacular walls will take your breath away.

When is the best time to sail in Croatia?

If you are looking to sail in Croatia during the summer months (June to August), it's crucial to charter your boat months in advance to ensure you get the best boat for your needs. Ideally, you will have everything booked for the summer by early March.

Take your chance on reasonable prices during the early booking period (from October to February), when you can book your preferred boat at significant discounts.

Although most who want to visit Croatia choose the hot summer months, the real sailors who wish for an adrenaline rush opt for the early or late season. The reasons are simple: fewer crowds, lower service prices and much more wind! Few people know that Croatia is also a charming destination in autumn. The mild autumn with lots of sun and mild temperatures in Dalmatia lasts until mid-November.

When in European cities, the real winter, fog and dull days have already started, and the hectic everyday life is normal; in Dalmatia, you can enjoy a handful of sunshine.

Moreover, in autumn, real sailors get their money's worth. The days are long enough, there is enough wind for more challenging routes, and it is warm enough that sailing is just right.

Which boat to choose for a vacation in Croatia?

Croatia is not only a beautiful destination and rich in many natural beauties but also has a large yacht charter fleet. Little known is the fact that there is a wide range of sailboats, motorboats, catamarans and gulets available for charter.

Once you have decided which part of Croatia you would like to visit and after you have already determined your starting point, you can search for available boats in the region.

Keep in mind that the average sailboats you can charter in Croatia are between 30 and 55 feet long and are equipped for multi-day charter trips. You can also rent them primarily as bareboat (without a skipper), but some are rented exclusively with a skipper or with the whole crew  (skipper, hostess and cook ...).

Mostly, motor yachts from 50-feet and bigger as well as gulets are rented with a crew.

Staying on such vessels is a very different experience than on sailboats or catamarans, which have recently become more popular because of their comfort.

Regardless of the boat type you choose, it is important to remember that you are on the boat and not in the apartment. The advantage of changing the destination on the sea has its disadvantages too. In any case, you must pay attention to the environment and comply with all environmental regulations. Keep in mind the safety of navigation and respect others who are also at sea.
