Enjoy Autumn Sailing In Croatia

24.08.2019

If you are a person who does not enjoy the sun scorching your skin, you can hardly breathe in the hot summer days or do not like the summer crowds in marinas or at sea, keep reading - this is the blog for you!

The Croatian coast is beautiful all year round and is worth a visit even when the summer heat drops slightly. In the summer, many tourists leave, and in the fall, Croatia becomes an ideal destination for those who enjoy exploring the coastal towns, sailing and discovering the beautiful quiet coves. The sailing season in Croatia runs from April to the end of October, and sailing enthusiasts generally choose September and October for their vacation. In this blog, we’ve tried to find out why, and have gathered the reasons why these periods are the most interesting to the real sailors!

Weather

When the summer heat and steam ceases, a period of pleasant and warm weather follows. And fortunately, the sailing season is still ongoing. The air temperatures are mild, with an average of 25-30 degrees, but it is easier to breathe, there is no steam, and generally, there are more windy days. Autumn winds are more stable and blow typically at a steady rate, which is ideal for sailing. Not to be surprised, you can read about the types of winds that can be found in your sails here. Due to the excellent weather, all true sailing lovers will surely enjoy the boat charter in Croatia during the fall. However, lovers of marine activities in this period come to their own. The sea is still comfortable for swimming, and since the sun is not so intense, you will be able to enjoy marine activities without much worry when you last applied sunscreen with a protective factor.

Crowds

Sailing in the autumn on the Adriatic coast has many advantages, and one of the favorites to almost all sailors is reduced crowds. In addition to the fact that there is generally less traffic, border crossings and airports in Croatia, there is also a reduction in sea traffic. Forget waiting in line at the marina, restaurants, busy buoys and crowded coves. You will not waste your time waiting but spending it sailing. Sounds perfect, doesn't it? Guests with school-age children use the school holidays and go sailing only when kids are free, and many guests who come to Croatia sail only during summer months. However, to perfect their skills, experienced sailors prefer to sail in September and October precisely because of the less crowded conditions and already stated the right weather conditions. This period is perfect for relaxing and exploring new destinations throughout Croatia, but also the period when the sailing adrenaline is best experienced while sailing. Without fighting for the last berth in the marina or for the last buoy in the bay, you can truly enjoy sailing during your vacation.

Costs

Oh yes, and in the financial field, it feels like summer is over. No matter when you book your boat, the price for autumn sailing will be less than for sailing in the summer. But sometimes it's not a bad idea to wait for the 'last-minute' as the fall months bring many discounts as well, so you can still get an excellent price for the boat for the upcoming fall! Check out our last minute boat deals and availability. You will surely find something for yourself! But not everything is priced - there is also something in available ships. The choice of boats on the autumn last minute offers is much higher than in the summer ones. We believe your ideal boat is still available, so hurry up!

If you decide to go on an autumn vacation, the total cost of your holiday could almost halve! How? In addition to finding and booking a cheaper boat, while sailing, there will be lower costs for berths in marinas, buoys and tickets to national and nature parks. You will enjoy the natural beauty as much as in the summer, but with much less lost nerves - less hustle and less expense.

Restaurants

There are generally many beautiful places along the coast where you can eat delicious traditional Mediterranean food. As mentioned earlier, the crowds are much smaller, and you won't have to fight for the last table at the restaurant or wait in line. On the islands, restaurants are open during the sailing season. However, if you decide to sail in October, be sure to check the opening hours before heading to a restaurant. Also, before embarking on an autumn sailing trip, we recommend that you plan well for your itinerary, so you don't have a lot of 'idle' and look for right spots only when you're on the road. You can find some of our route suggestions here, and you can see a list of restaurants we visited in the Kornati archipelago that we want to recommend here.

Train your sailing skills in extremely favorable weather conditions and enjoy swimming in calm and quiet coves. Explore the charming Dalmatian towns during September and October and discover a completely different scenery. Don't miss this beautiful part of the year for adventurous sailing and evening relaxation on deck with a glass of red wine.
