Whether you’re an experienced sailor or you’re still thinking about this type of leisure, we’re sure that an extra advice is always more than welcome. When it comes to picking the right sailing yacht, each one of us has the particular style we prefer. Some people dedicate more attention to performance, other to design and someone simply wants to try new possibilities. On the market, there are numerous fantastic sailing yachts competing to attract your attention and each has its own X factor.  But recently, on the market, one special sailing yacht appeared to intrigue you even more than any other before. It’s all about a brand new, redesigned Jeanneau’s model Sun Odyssey 440, that is special in so many ways. There are 3 key features that highlight her among other sailing yachts and we want to point them out here.

Redefining of movement around the boat- when it comes to easier movement onboard it means that the Jeanneau has redefined the way we circulate on the outer side of the boat. They’ve set a nice and wide foredeck with wide side decks, that makes you circulate easier and gives you extra safety. Let’s make it real and imagine a scene in which something accidentally drops out of your pocket on the side decks...following us?...our experience is that this thing would easily roll over and probably end in the sea, but now with this clever GRP bulwark all the way along, similar situations will happen more rarely. Another advantage is at the shrouds; the vertical shroud that is on the outboard side, in order to get the mast maximum stability and it gives you a handhold to grab onto as you move around the deck. The diagonal shroud which they moved in board provides you more space on the passageway. But, the greatest feature is definitely inclining on the aft part of side deck. That means you can walk all the way back from the side deck into the cockpit without stepping over. Yes, you’ve read well! There are no steps on the outside part of the boat. Can you imagine your kids running around playfully, while your wife watches calmly without yelling? :) Sounds heavenly, right? 

When we speak about the cockpit, which is very wide, a large full down swimming platform will give you great access to the sea and could be a great place to enjoy with your friends and family. Cockpit table was developed with so many details such as, a 12 volt plugs, controls for the electrical swim platform, all of the lighting, plenty of storage and much more. But, the highlight of this cockpit is definitely lounge space which you can easily get by unfolding the cockpit benches on the both sides of the boat. That way, you’ll get comfortable lounge space for your crew. You know what that means? Your crew doesn’t have to go on the foredeck to soak up the sun, they can enjoy with you on cockpit while you maneuver with the boat.

Innovative interior design- interior of this fantastic sailing yacht type offers one fresh, new look. There were innovative concepts developed, especially when it comes to the centrally placed galley. By placing it in the middle of the boat means that it’s placed in the area that moves the least when the boat is underway or even at anchor. So, no more spilling out your favorite cocktail in galley! :)

Lots of storage built in, lots of drawers, stove and oven combination easily ventilated with the hatch just above it. There are many hidden storage spaces, both in the kitchen, in the salon and finally in cabins under the beds. The greatest point of the interior is something that is worth seeing to believe, the huge amount of nature light and ventilation, accomplished with long-haul ports, long roof windows, lots of opening hatches and ports. There’s a tone of natural light, ventilation and it’s really a space of openness. Another advantage, we cannot miss, is that the entire flooring was done at one level so there are no stepping’s, not even the doorsills. Plenty of handholds, handrails, fiddles throughout the boat and everything in nautical tradition with rounded edges.

Sailing performances- which Jeanneau fully takes pride in. Considerable stability, power and volume are result of a special design of a very large forward section. L keel design makes it really the best keel for offshore cruising. They’ve also changed the entire rig configuration on this new generation of boats. A cathedral style rigging means you do the twin spreaders but the upper part of rig is held by two separate diagonals.  What this means is lowering the center of gravity of the rig that’s increasing the stability to hold sail area into higher wind speeds. That is something coming from the racing world. Another part of the perfect sailing experience that Jeanneau gives us with this model is a correctly and ergonomics designed helm station. As mentioned before, innovative inclined side deck allows having a helm station a little bit further outboard, so you have a great visibility forward both seating and standing. They’ve even installed the GPS screen in here and angled it, so it has a perfect viewing angle when driving a boat. Centralized winches bring back the mainsheet and jib sheet within easy reach of the helm. And last but not least, what they’ve accomplished with this new model is increasment of the sails area by more than 10%. This performance version really takes you over and above for somebody who really, really enjoys getting out there on the water.

All in all, it doesn’t surprise the fact that this boat stands out on the market in comparison to other boats and you definitely won’t wonder why this boat was announced European family boat of the year 2018, during Boot Düsseldorf.
