1.     Croatian Indented Coast

Croatian coast is considered the most indented coast in the Mediterranean, including about 1244 islands among which only about 50 of them are inhabited. Depending on a destination you direct your sails to, there is a cove, bay, island or islet that will perfectly suit your needs. If you are on a sailing vacation with your friends and have a larger crew, maybe you will prefer more crowded bays, coves such as Sakarun, where you can also socialise with other people. If you are on vacation with your family and prefer more privacy, there are many secluded, romantic getaways that perhaps you’ll discover on your own. Most of these places are great anchoring spots. It is a pure pleasure to sail among these numerous island passages collecting memories, nature scenes and improving your sailing skills.

2.     Favourable Mediterranean Climate

Croatia has a Mediterranean climate characterised by mild winters and hot summers. Weather and temperatures in Croatia mostly depend on a period you choose for a sailing vacation. The sailing season starts in April and May and lasts until the end of October. In April and May, temperatures usually don’t go above 24°C; weather is dry and sunny, but sometimes can surprise with occasional showers. The peak of the sailing season is in July and August when the temperature can go up to 38°C.  In June, September and October weather is enjoyable, and there is definitely less crowd at sea, so you will be able to enjoy your privacy and peace. Bear in mind winds and pay attention to the weather forecast, because some winds are breezes, others are great for sailing and some can be challenging.

3.     Croatian Preserved Nature

With long coastlines, extremely clean waters, environment and skies, eight national parks, eleven nature parks, we can easily say that Croatia is one of the best-preserved parts of Europe. Croatian coast is an attractive one, especially islands. Many islands are distant from coast and therefore remained untouched by people, meaning there are no facilities, restaurants, bars, roads - only authentic nature. When on a sailing vacation in Croatia, it would be nice if you’d manage to explore at least two national parks: the Kornati, known as the largest instalment of islands on the Adriatic and Mljet, known for its large green area. There are two Nature parks worth of visiting too: Telašica bay on Dugi Otok island and Lastovo island. Telaščica is known as the safest sailing port on the Adriatic and Lastovo is known for its clear and crystal night’s sky. As you can see, sailing along Adriatic is magical and a never-seen-before experience you will not want to miss.

4.     Mediterranean delicacies & wines

One thing you surely mustn’t miss on your sailing vacation is tasting local Mediterranean delicacies and wine. Each island and place have their own cuisine and believe us, each of them will delight your taste buds. Try sheep cheese and lamb on Pag island, Viška pogača or lobster in Komiža,  prosciutto in Istria or Dalmatian villages.  Black risotto, octopus salad, tuna specialities are simply must-try Croatian food, especially while sailing. A lot of sunny days, good weather conditions, warm temperatures combined with Dalmatian tradition have resulted in creating extraordinary red and white wines. Can you imagine yourselves sailing in a sunset, with a glass of Pošip, Plavac, Malvazija, etc.? Well, it’s one more reason to sail Croatian coast.
